Wash pestle and mortar in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before first use
Hand wash only, not suitable for dishwasher use
Scrub the inside of the mortar bowl and grinding end of the pestle with a brush to remove granite dust
Grind a small handful of uncooked rice before first use
Check the ground rice for granite particles
Place the mortar bowl onto a non-slip surface
Hold the mortar firmly, carefully push down onto the food with the pestle using a circular motion
Continue with the circular grinding motion until the food is at the required consistency
